North Valley Bounces Back to Bombard Campbell Moreland, 12-1
After kicking away a game in the opening round a day earlier by committing four errors, the North Valley Palomino all-star baseball team rebounded with a vengeance Friday in the Western zone tournament at San Diego State University.
North Valley struck for four runs in the first against Campbell Moreland of Northern California en route to a 12-1 victory that was halted after five innings when the 10-run rule was invoked. Tim Laker whacked a bases-loaded triple to cap the four-run first and spark North Valley’s 10-hit attack.
Tim Nedin, who worked three innings, and Jeff Light combined on a two-hitter for the win in the losers’ bracket of the six-team tournament for 17- and 18-year-olds.
North Valley fell into the losers’ bracket by losing to Helix of San Diego, 4-3, on Thursday.
