A seal that was rescued from starvation in the Netherlands only two weeks ago and flown to the Arctic was killed Friday in response to protests from angry Icelandic fish farmers.

The seal was one of six flown to northern Iceland from the Netherlands by the Dutch Seal Protection Institute in a widely publicized operation which brought fierce criticism from local fishermen.
