WEEKEND TV : ‘FACE’ FACES PERSIAN GULF TENSIONS
With the Iran- contra hearings completed and off the front pages for the moment, television’s weekend news and public affairs programs will be probing other topics, themes and guests this Sunday.
One world concern--the growing tension in the Persian Gulf--will be discussed on “Face the Nation” when it airs Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (8), and 3:30 p.m. (2). The guests will be Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger and Rajaie Khorassani, Iranian abmassador to the United Nations.
“Meet the Press” will take up U.S. peace plans for Central America Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (4)(36) (39). The guests will be Rep. Jim Wright (D-Tex.), Speaker of the House, and Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Miguel d’Escoto Brockman.
