A man accused of posing as the brother of the late singer Marvin Gaye in a scheme to pilfer $1.5 million from a bank has been sentenced in Pittsburgh to four years in jail. U.S. District Judge Barron P. McCune on Monday sentenced James Eugene Wall, 40, of Altoona for a bank fraud conviction. Wall was accused of presenting himself at Central Bank of Altoona on Feb. 10 as Dr. Vernon Gordy Gaye. He offered as identification a Texas driver’s license and a membership card from the Black Millionaires Club of Pittsburgh. Wall opened an account with a worthless check for $4.7 million and was arrested Feb. 18 when he tried to withdraw $1.5 million from the account, U.S. Attorney J. Alan Johnson said.
