Probe of Ex-Minister’s War Record Reopened
BORDEAUX, France — A judicial inquiry was reopened Tuesday into the wartime record of a former French Cabinet minister suspected of involvement in the deportation of hundreds of Jews during the Nazi occupation of France.
Judicial sources said that Maurice Papon, budget minister under former President Valery Giscard d’Estaing, will be investigated on suspicion of crimes against humanity during World War II.
