Many Irish Want to Emigrate, Poll Shows

DUBLIN, Ireland — Nearly two-thirds of Irish young people polled by a Sunday newspaper said they hoped to emigrate.
One in five Irish are jobless and about 30,000 young people emigrate in desperation every year, mainly to the United States, Britain and Australia.
The poll in the Sunday Independent showed that 62% of 17- to 24-year-olds interviewed at 56 locations around the country were likely to leave Ireland.
