L.A.’S PIPELINE INC. GETS LARGEST OF 22 GRANTS

Pipeline Inc., an organization committed to independent theater in downtown Los Angeles, will receive $10,000 in a matching grant--the largest of 22 grants issued--through the National/State/County Partnership, a program created to assist emerging, experimental and other county-resident arts organizations.

The partnership, administered by the Los Angeles County Music and Performing Arts Commission, allocated a total of $87,200. Funds are provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Other grants ranging from $7,500 to $1,500 were awarded to the following:

City Hearts Performing Arts (community arts); Company Theatre Foundation, Dance Resource Center, Repertory Dance Theatre of Los Angeles, Sarah Elgart and Company, Visions Interarts (dance); Children’s Film & Television Center of America, Jazz Dance Center (media arts); Fringe Festival, Pipeline, Inc., Westside Arts Center (multi-disciplinary); Independent Composers Association, Music Circle, Nova Concerts (music); Cactus Foundation, Modern Artists Company (performance art); Ensemble Studio Theatre, Los Angeles Theatre Consortium, Victory Theatre, West Coast Ensemble (theater); Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, Santa Monica Heritage Museum (visual arts/photography).

Grants are awarded every six months. Two workshops will be held Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the John Anson Ford Theater, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East, to assist groups in preparing applications. Applications must be received by Sept. 4.
