An unidentified Japanese buyer purchased a Salvador Dali painting for a record $2.3 million, the work’s seller, Van Nuys-based Martin Lawrence Limited Editions Inc., announced Friday. The highest price previously paid for a painting by the ailing Surrealist was believed to be between $800,000 and $1 million.
