Datum Inc. Reports 27% Drop in Earnings
Datum Inc., an Anaheim-based manufacturer of precision-timing devices, reported second-quarter earnings of $252,000, down 27% from $344,000 during the same period in 1986. Sales increased 20% to a record $7 million from $5.8 million a year ago.
For the six months ended June 30, Datum reported profits of $469,000, down 17% from $563,000 in 1986. Six-month sales were $13.5 million, a 26% increase from $10.7 million a year earlier.
Datum said the earnings decline reflects pressure on profits in some of the company’s key operations.
