Before he went off to start his European tour, Prince was in the studio with vocalist Bonnie Raitt, writing and producing several tracks for her upcoming album. It’s unclear whether Prince will handle the rest of the album sessions, but a Warners Records spokesman confirmed that Raitt’s album will be released on Prince’s custom Paisley Park label. . . . Talk about covering old songs--Rod Stewart has redone Sam Cooke’s “Twistin’ the Night Away” for the sound track to “Innerspace.” What makes that really odd is that Stewart already covered the song nearly 15 years ago on his “Never a Dull Moment” album. . . . And yes, it’s true--in one of his few public remarks since being acquitted of 12 of 13 charges, so-called subway vigilante Bernard Goetz asked reporters staking out his New York apartment if they could find him a copy of “In the Dark,” the new Grateful Dead album.
