A 5-year-old girl died in a fire that destroyed her mobile home in Compton. Police said firefighters found the body of Michelle Rodriguez behind a sofa in the living room of the home, in the 400 block of South Central Avenue, after flames were extinguished. “She had evidently tried to hide from the fire back there,” Sgt. Evelyn Malachi said. Cause of the fire was under investigation.
