Garden Grove’s Brown Wins at Speedway

Scott Brown of Garden Grove won the eight-lap handicap main event at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night in front of 4,380 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Brown passed second-place Walt Farnum of Ventura in the last turn of the final lap. Steve Lucero of Riverside was third, Mike Faria of Colton fourth, Alan Christian of Huntington Beach fifth, Shawn McConnell of Brea was sixth, Greg Hancock of Cypress seventh and Phil Collins of England eighth.

Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the four-lap scratch main event, the 23rd of 28 mains he has won this season on the four Southern California tracks. Christian was second, Faria third and Lucero fourth.
