San Bernardino Takes the Bronze in Baseball
The San Bernardino Indians, a semipro team of players 18 and older, took the bronze medal in an international baseball tournament this week at Monterrey, Mexico.
The Indians, coached by Don DiCarlo, beat Mexico’s Nuevo Leon, 7-3, to finish third in the tournament that also included a team from Cuba and the Mexican national team.
San Bernardino earlier had beaten Cuba, 8-6, on a grand slam by Jeff Battaglia and finished with a 2-4 record. The Mexican nationals won the tournament at 6-0, followed by Cuba at 4-2. Nuevo Leon finished last at 1-5.
