Game 5 Sets Record for Cable TV

ATLANTA — Tuesday night’s fifth game of the NBA’s Eastern Conference finals between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons was the highest-viewed sports telecast in basic cable history, WTBS said Friday.
According to Nielsen data, the telecast of the Celtics’ 108-107 victory was seen in a basic cable-record 3.169 million TV households and had a 7.6 rating and an 11.6 share of the viewing audience.
The previous record was WTBS’ coverage of Game 2 in the series May 21. It was seen in 3.067 million households and drew a 7.3 rating and an 11.8 share.
