5 BROADWAY SHOWS DUE AT COSTA MESA CENTER
Five Broadway musicals, including “Cats,” “South Pacific” and “Me and My Girl,” have been booked for the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s 1987-1988 season, officials for the Costa Mesa facility have announced.
The other two musicals are “My One and Only” (Oct. 21-25) with Tommy Tune and Stephanie Zimbalist, and Cole Porter’s “Can-Can” (July 26-31), featuring Radio City Music Hall’s Rockettes.
Robert Goulet will star in “South Pacific” (Jan. 5-10). “Me and My Girl” (May 3-8), a revival of a 1927 musical, features Tim Curry. No date was announced for “Cats.”
Of the five shows, “Me and My Girl” is the only current hit on Broadway. The other productions are touring versions of shows popular in recent Broadway seasons, or revivals packaged outside of New York by the New York-based PACE Theatrical Group, to meet the demand of regional arts centers such as the facility in Costa Mesa.
Subscriptions are available by mail for the full series of five or for a four-show series, which would exclude “My One and Only.” Information: (714) 556-ARTS.
