Loara’s Malavar Gets AAU Sullivan Honor
Brian Malavar, a three-sport athlete at Loara High School, was named to the Amateur Athletic Union’s Junior Sullivan Award All-American team for excellence in athletics and academics.
Malavar, who carries a 3.6 grade-point average, was an All-Empire League defensive end and the league’s defensive player of the year. He also was a league champion wrestler at 154 pounds and a three-year starter on the Loara baseball team.
Malavar will attend Cal State Bakersfield next fall on a wrestling scholarship.
