USIU’s Maritz Is Tied for 12th in NCAA Golf
Laurette Maritz of United States International University shot a 73 in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships Thursday, placing her in a three-way tie for 12th after 36 holes.
With a combined score of 148, Maritz--the No. 1-ranked golfer in the NCAA--is four strokes behind Arizona State’s Danielle Ammaccapani, the current leader and 1985 NCAA champion.
USIU finished the second round with a combined score of 618, placing it 16th out of 17 teams. The universities of Florida and Miami were tied for first at 593. USIU’s Tupito Walker was the second highest San Diego-area golfer in the individual standings, placing 69th in a field of 102 with a score of 155.
