The 10th annual Ted Kallos Memorial will be held Saturday at Cajon Speedway. Kallos, a longtime member of the El Cajon Stock Car Racing Assn., was killed on the final night of the 1977 racing season.

Kallos is the only driver to be killed in the track’s 27 years.

A 40-lap main event for super stocks will highlight the evening. Other races will be held in the sportsman, street and bomber stock divisions, all of which are 20-lap races.

Mark Norris of Lakeside, the 1985 track champion, is the defending Kallos Memorial champion. He is second in the NASCAR Winston Racing Series points at the track, six points behind Ron Brown of San Diego. Qualifying starts at 6 p.m., with racing at 7:30 p.m.

The San Diego Nomads Western Soccer Alliance team has a possible playoff spot riding on its game with F.C. Portland tonight at Southwestern College at 7:30.

This will be the regular-season finale for the Nomads (5-4, 25 points) who are third in the WSA. Portland (5-3, 23 points) is fourth in league standings with two matches to play.

If the Nomads get a maximum-point win (six points; three points for a win, one point for every goal up to three) they will play host to a playoff game in two weeks. If they win, but get fewer than six points, they will play a playoff game at San Jose or Seattle. If Portland wins, it could possibly win the WSA, depending on its outcome Saturday night against Los Angeles.
