Community College Roundup : Gabriel Advances to Singles, Doubles Semifinals in State Tennis Tournament

John Gabriel of Orange Coast College advanced Friday to the semifinals in singles and doubles competition at the men’s state community college tennis championships at West Valley College in San Jose.

Gabriel defeated Dan Joelson of Foothill, 7-5, 7-5, in the quarterfinals of singles play.

He and partner Chris Ganz defeated Mike Brown and Mark Oryskevich of Saddleback, 6-3, 7-5, in the doubles quarterfinals.

In action at the state track and field championships at American River College in Sacramento:

Dave Parsel of Orange Coast won the finals of 10,000-meter race finals in at time of 30 minutes and 50.74 seconds. Parcel will run in the 5,000 today.
