Jose Vargas, LSU’s 6-foot 9-inch center, was put on university probation and faces possible criminal charges stemming from the allegations made by his former girlfriend, Shera Bennett. The probation will not affect his eligibility for his senior season on the basketball team. “It was nothing but a normal argument between an ex-boyfriend and girlfriend,” Vargas said. “It was nothing more than that. We got in an argument. I guess she got mad and went down to the police department and said I slapped her.”
