Federal and state officials said they had foiled a plot by as many as a dozen Utah State Prison inmates to assassinate 10 prison officials with bombs or cyanide. The killings, allegedly in retaliation for several recent drug investigations at the prison, were to have coincided with an escape attempt by two inmates identified as ringleaders of the alleged trafficking ring, the officials said.
