‘Spies’ Prove to Be Hockey Fans
From Reuters
STOCKHOLM — Five men who were arrested as suspected spies today turned out to be hockey fans celebrating Sweden’s victory in the World Championships.
The five, initially described by the Defense Ministry as citizens of an East Bloc state, were arrested shortly after police officers reported “suspicious wave movements” in a lake by Drottningholm Castle, home of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. A search of the area revealed the five camping on an island nearby, and they were taken in for questioning.
