A travel/study program, which is known as Interhostel, for adults 50 years old or over has announced the addition of several overseas study programs for summer and fall of 1987. Now in its eighth year, Interhostel programs are conducted at educational institutions in the United States and abroad. Students live in modest campus quarters or small hotels during their two-week visits.

A new booklet for 1987 lists added programs that include Hangzhou, China; Malaga, Spain; Yorkshire and London, England; Stirling, Scotland; Galway, Ireland; Trier, West Germany; Zurich, Switzerland, and Melbourne, Australia.

The cost is $1,095 per person for two weeks, except for China and Australia, which are $1,400. Price includes all ground transportation, lodging, three meals daily, tuition and admission to museums and historic sites.

Interhostel, through its designated travel agency, will assist in arranging air transportation to and from your home city. It will also arrange for an extension of time so you may visit other cities or countries. It also offers post-tours designed for mature travelers.

Quality International, which operates a diverse group of lodging facilities throughout the United States, has published a handsome booklet for mature travelers that is available at no charge.

The seven-chapter booklet, “Tips for Travelers Over 60,” answers travel questions ranging from how to find a physician when traveling abroad to when and how much to tip.

The booklet also includes a directory of services, emergency telephone numbers, senior citizens organizations and toll-free numbers for car rental firms, airlines and bus lines, as well as selected telephone numbers and addresses for other travel-related organizations.

Sunworld Airlines, the Las Vegas-based carrier now in its fourth year of operation, has introduced a Super 60 discount fare program for mature travelers age 60 and over. Unfortunately, though the carrier serves 11 destinations, the only Southern California airports it serves are Ontario and San Diego.

The program has several options, the first being an introductory offer that allows those 60 years old and over to fly to Las Vegas from Ontario for $60 round trip and to also bring a companion for another $30 round trip.

The offer is good now through May 20 and on flights Monday through Thursday, plus Saturday.

Sunworld’s other options on Super 60 discounts do not have a May 20 cutoff, but do require flights on the days specified. The second option gives a 10% discount on all flights to the carrier’s 11 destinations (besides those mentioned: Reno, Oklahoma City, Tucson, San Jose, Oakland, Seattle, Portland, Ore, and Spokane, Wash.).

A third option is Sunworld’s Super 60 Fun Pass. For $600 the Fun Pass offers mature travelers 60 years old or over unlimited Sunworld flights for a full year. The pass is available through travel agents and Sunworld ticket counters with proof of age.
