San Diego College Baseball : Riesgo Hits 3 Homers for Aztecs
Nikco Riesgo hit three home runs and scored eight runs Saturday as San Diego State swept a doubleheader from Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo., and moved within one game of clinching a Western Athletic Conference playoff spot.
Riesgo hit two home runs and and had four RBIs as SDSU won the first game, 11-1. In the second game, Riesgo hit another homer and had three RBIs as the Aztecs won, 15-6.
SDSU (12-10, 31-26-1) can clinch a playoff spot by winning one of today’s two games at Colorado State. Wyoming (10-11), in third place, lost to Hawaii Saturday.
James Campbell (7-3) threw a five-hitter in the first game. In the second game, Colorado State committed seven errors.

UC San Diego 5-7, La Verne 2-0--The Tritons ran their winning streak to 10 games with a doubleheader sweep at La Jolla. Kyle Abbott (7-1) pitched a five-hitter in the first game, and Rick Nowak (8-3) did the same in the second. Bob Natal hit his 15th home run of the season in the second game. In the opener, Natal drove in two runs with a triple and Derek Alkonis added a two-run homer during a four-run fourth for UCSD (27-11).
Loyola Marymount 9-3, University of San Diego 0-7--Jim Westlund and Dan Newman combined on a seven-hitter and Mark Trafton had a bases-loaded triple during a four-run fourth-inning rally as USD (7-12-1, 30-21-1) gained a split of its West Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader at San Diego. Westlund (6-2) went five innings and Newman shut out Loyola (8-11-1, 34-20-1) over the final four innings. In the first game, Mike Jones (5-2) pitched a two-hitter and Loyola scored seven runs in the seventh inning.
