Irvine : UCI Professor Named to National Committee
UC Irvine professor Betty H. Olson has been named head of the Water Resources Research Committee of the National Research Council. The council operates the National Academy of Sciences.
A professor of social ecology and civil engineering, Olson will be chair of the water research committee for a two-year term.
Olson specializes in environmental health and microbiology. She also has been appointed to a national Science Advisory Board subcommittee that is reviewing proposed standards for amendments to the federal Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974.
A resident of Irvine, Olson is a member of the Irvine Ranch Water District Board of Directors.
