TO HELL AND BACK
Talk about hype! To promote their supernatural thriller, “The Gate”--about three kids who stumble upon the “gate to hell”--the folks at New Century/Vista will hold the film’s world premiere in . . . yup, Hell itself.
That’s Hell, Mich.--a teensy town (pop.: 300) 50 miles west of Detroit.
The May 13 event will include a pre-premiere barbecue at the Hell Creek Ranch (devil’s food cake will be served), a costume parade and a national contest--the prize being a trip to Hell (round-trip).
The film director, Canadian Tibor Takacs, will attend, as will star Stephen Dorff and special-effects meister Randy Cook. The pic opens in the rest of the country May 15.
