“60 Minutes’ ” resident curmudgeon Andy Rooney reportedly told his CBS bosses over the weekend that he will not appear on the broadcast again until the current Writers Guild of America strike against his network and ABC is over. CBS chief executive Laurence A. Tisch, notified of Rooney’s decision, told reporters, “I always respect people who respect picket lines. I wouldn’t dream of saying ‘boo’ to Andy Rooney about that.”
