PREP FOOTBALL : Pacific Coast League : Orange Makes Most of Miscues to Roll Over Laguna Hills, 31-8
Orange High School capitalized on three turnovers by Laguna Hills to score three touchdowns Saturday en route to a 31-8 Pacific Coast League victory at Mission Viejo High School.
Defensive back Robby Glover got the Panthers off to a quick start in the first quarter when he intercepted a pass by Laguna Hills quarterback Chris Leigber and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown. Orange also scored after two Hawk fumbles.
The Panthers, 2-0 in league play and 4-3 overall, held a 21-0 halftime lead. Fullback Paul Maund scored on a 38-yard pass from quarterback Mike Stock and on a 3-yard run. Maund finished with 100 yards in 22 carries.
Laguna Hills (0-2, 1-6) avoided a shutout in the fourth quarter when quarterback Chris Buckley threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Dave Delmonico. Buckley completed 7 of 10 pass attempts for 69 yards after replacing Leigber, who suffered a separated shoulder.
