Garden Grove : Female Officers Pose as Prostitutes; 38 Arrested
Female police officers posing as prostitutes worked two nights on Harbor Boulevard, authorities said Thursday, and business was steady.
A total of 38 men--an average of more than three an hour--were arrested on suspicion of soliciting prostitutes last Friday and Wednesday night, Police Lt. Larry Hodges said.
The two women officers worked six hours each night on the boulevard north of Chapman Avenue and several blocks south of Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center as part of what the department called its Decoy Prostitution Program.
“It’s a program to apprehend the males who prey upon the people on the street . . , “ Hodges said. “We’ve had a lot of complaints from innocent females.”
The suspected “johns,” as prostitution customers are referred to, were booked into County Jail on the misdemeanor charge. Bail for suspicion of prostitution solicitation is $1,000, Hodges said.
