Concert Manners
Thank you for your very appropriate Arts Watch article “Dear Audiences: It’s Rude to Bolt” (April 16).
It has been my observation that the laid-back audiences to which you refer are also rude at the outdoor concerts performed at Hospitality Point. Not only are they rude to the musicians of the San Diego Symphony, but to attendees who may wish to hear the music.
Far too often I have had an otherwise pleasant evening made less so by nearby wine-swilling persons intent on chatting about their latest dating partner, hairdo or party.
It seems that lack of consideration for others is in direct relation to the amount of bubbly consumed.
Obviously, having the price of a ticket or the latest fashion is no assurance of having manners. These cannot be put on Visa.
