Rod Thorn, a former National Basketball Assn. player, coach and general manager, has been named the league’s vice president of operations, Commissioner David Stern announced.
Thorn, 44, succeeded Scotty Stirling, who recently was named vice president and general manager of the New York Knicks. Thorn’s last NBA job was as general manager of the Chicago Bulls, who fired him.
