Arcadia : Civic Center Plan on Hold
The Arcadia City Council has voted to delay implementation of the Civic Center Master Plan because it is not considered financially feasible. The plan calls for gradual renovation of the Huntington Drive median strip, which includes City Hall and the Police Department. The first phase of the plan, a new $10.5-million police station to be built southwest of the existing facility, had been in the design stage.
The council is now investigating the possibility of a temporary addition to the existing building, City Manager George Watts said. Other projects that had been under consideration were a new or renovated City Hall, a civic auditorium and a senior citizen center.
