Is This a Way to Treat Our Guests From Iowa?

I just finished reading one of the most outrageous Jim Murray columns that I have ever read. Never mind that Iowa came out here thinking they were going to bury UCLA. That’s not the point. These young men lost the game, but not their dignity (at least not until that column).

What Mr. Murray did was to make fun of a fine group of young athletes who won the Big Ten championship and the right to play in the Rose Bowl. They are not a bunch of country bumpkins fresh off the turnip truck. I feel Mr. Murray owes the Iowa team an apology.
