Doctor to Be Honored at Benefit Dinner to Aid Alzheimer’s Fight

Dr. Robert Katzman, a leading expert on Alzheimer’s disease, will be honored Wednesday at Westin South Coast Plaza during the first major fund-raiser of the Orange County chapter of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Assn. (ADRDA). The $125-a-plate dinner will start at 7:30 p.m., following a 6:30 reception.
Katzman, chairman of the department of neurology at UC San Diego, will be honored for his research on Alzheimer’s, a brain disorder that causes loss of memory or serious mental deterioration. The ADRDA estimates that as many as 2.5 million middle-aged and older Americans suffer from the disease.
The benefit, which will be hosted by George Fenneman, will include a preview of an excerpt from the upcoming CBS television drama “Do You Remember Love?” starring Joanne Woodward as a 50-year-old Alzheimer’s victim.
