Dow Chemical acquired a chemical operation.
The purchase of the polymer chemical operations of Upjohn by Dow Chemical is for an undisclosed price, the companies said in separate announcements. Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Upjohn recorded polymer chemical sales of $287.4 million last year, an amount that the company said represented 13% of its total sales. Upjohn’s polymer chemical operations employ about 960 people in the United States, West Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy and Japan, Dow said. The transaction has been approved by directors of both companies but requires federal regulatory approval.
