Culver City
The City Council has authorized city staff to apply to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for 20 additional rental subsidy units.
Six units would be designated for the elderly and 14 would be targeted for families.
The staff recommended applying for the units quickly because funds for this type of federally assisted housing are expected to be slashed as part of the effort to reduce the federal deficit.
The city was awarded 15 units from HUD last year. If the proposed application is approved, the city will have a total of 224 federally subsidized units.
