Cinderella didn’t even got dressed for the ball.

Oregon State, the eighth seed in the Pac-10 tournament, was beaten by No. 9 Stanford, 62-54, on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.

Despite the slightly higher seed -- and having swept the Cardinal by large margins in the regular season -- the Beavers were clearly the sentimental favorite. After going 0-18 in the conference last season, Oregon State improved to 7-11 this season under the leadership of first-year coach Craig Robinson. If you hadn’t heard, he’s related to some famous dude and got a lot of camera time in November.

Stanford, led by Anthony Goods’ 23 points and Landry Fields’ eight rebounds, was predicted to win by three of our college hoops experts (I was the lone dissenter). Not that it mattered. All the Cardinal really won was the privilege of being clobbered by Washington this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

The video in this posts recaps Oregon State’s turnaround this year. For more, Mark Medina also put together reactions from Stanford on their victory and thoughts about today’s game.
