Nightclub shooting leaves valet driver dead, security guard injured
A shooting at a Pico Rivera nightclub over the weekend left a valet worker dead and a security guard wounded.
The mayhem at El Rodeo nightclub in the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard took place at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday when a man who had allegedly caused a disturbance earlier in the night returned, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Witnesses told police that the man had been escorted out of the building by security earlier that night “but later returned with four associates.â€

The group attempted to gain entry into the club but were denied by security personnel, according to authorities. The shooting suspect then retrieved a handgun from a vehicle, returned and shot the two victims, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The shooter -- whose identity was not immediately disclosed -- fled but was caught by deputies after during a foot pursuit with deputies, authorities said. The handgun authorities believe he used was also recovered, they said.
Tony Santana, who works at El Rodeo, told CBS-LA that the valet worker was a “hard-working guy.â€
“He would always just show up to work, happy,†Santana said.
