San Diego woman among those wounded in Kenya attack

A 26-year-old woman from San Diego was among those wounded in the terrorist attack on a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya.

Elaine Dang, a graduate of Torrey Pines High School and UC Berkeley, was with co-workers when gunfire broke out at the Westgate Mall. Two of her co-workers were apparently killed.

Dang is working in Kenya for a restaurant guide, “Eat Out Kenya,†her father, Steven Dang, told KGTV-Channel 10. She suffered wounds to her chest, arm and leg, he said.

Dang was meeting co-workers at Nairobi’s upscale Westgate Mall for lunch when gunfire broke out Saturday.

In a series of tweets, Dang assured friends that she survived and is “hanging out with some of my best friends in Nairobi.â€

“I am recovering,†said one tweet. “Thank you for all the love and support - in Kenya and overseas. Terrorism knows no religion.â€
