‘The Borgias’ will get e-book finale

Fans of Showtime’s recently canceled series “The Borgias†are nothing if not passionate. They recently rallied during the Television Critics Assn.’s summer press tour to get Showtime to bring the historical series back. That didn’t work, but they are getting the next best thing: closure.

Neil Jordan, who created the series about the 16th century Italian family, has written an e-book, titled “The Borgia Apocalypse,†that will serve as a conclusion to the series, which ended after three seasons.

Hard-core fans worried that this smacks of a hurried Band-Aid to a deep wound can take comfort in the fact that the book is actually based on the unproduced script Jordan had already written for the two-hour “Borgias†series finale.

In a statement, Showtime said, “We’re thrilled that the series’ loyal fans will have the opportunity to read Neil’s final farewell to one of history’s most infamous families.â€

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the “Save ‘The Borgias’ campaign included flying a plane over the Beverly Hilton, where the TCAs were being held, with the banner, “D Nevins: Sho fans you care -- save The Borgias.†“D Nevins†is David Nevins, the entertainment president of Showtime.
