Jimmy Fallon rounds up NBC News employees for ‘Rapper’s Delight’
“NBC Nightly News†anchor Brian Williams is covering the Olympics in Sochi, Russia, so he wasn’t available to slow jam the news on Jimmy Fallon’s third episode of “The Tonight Show,†but he was able to do the next best thing. Using snippets from dozens of nightly news broadcasts, Fallon’s editors once again turned Williams into a rapping master.
During his “Late Night†days, Fallon recut the genial Williams to rap Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’s “Good Vibrations,†Warren G’s “Regulate†and N.W.A.s’ “Straight Outta Compton.†But for the inaugural “Tonight Show†edition of Brian Williams raps, Fallon went old school, having him rap the Sugarhill Gang’s 1979 breakthrough hip-hop hit, “Rapper’s Delight.â€

And since “Rapper’s Delight†is too much song for one man, the editors brought in an assist from NBC News’ Lester Holt and a surprise cameo from a very perky “Today†show host.
Fallon is off to a strong start as host of the “The Tonight Show,†with his first episode grabbing 11.314 million viewers.
Lucky for Fallon, there are many people at NBC News, and many popular rap songs. Matt Lauer on “Momma Said Knock You Out†next?
