‘Breaking Bad’ sparks a spinoff: ‘Better Call Saul’
“Breaking Bad†is coming to an end, but fans of the hit drama should not despair. A “Breaking Bad†spinoff featuring the sometimes unethical attorney Saul Goodman has been given the green light.
“Better Call Saul†will feature Bob Odenkirk as Goodman in a one-hour series that is being positioned as a prequel to “Breaking Bad,†focusing on Goodman before he became the lawyer for chemistry-teacher-turned-criminal Walter White. AMC and Sony Pictures Television announced the deal in a joint statement.
No other details were provided in the release about when the show would premiere or other casting.
Vince Gilligan, who is the creator of “Breaking Bad,†has said in several interviews that he wanted to base a show around Goodman after “Breaking Bad†ended its run.
