Delano exhibit highlights the work of two Las Vegas artists
Reporting from Las Vegas — Art from Las Vegas photographers Robert Knight and Maryanne Bilham now graces the lobby of Delano Las Vegas, part of the resort’s nod to local artists.
The duo just installed “Defiantly Inspired,†a collection inspired by rock ‘n’ roll legends and emerging music talent that features musicians blended with the beauty of the desert to create portraits.
The collection reflects the resort’s desert landscape vibe, including a 10-foot-tall, 126,000-pound boulder found in Jean, Nev., at the entrance. Another piece of art at the resort from Korean artist Jaehyo Lee uses hundreds of rocks suspended by wires.
The exhibit from Knight and Bilham features Robert Plant, Jimi Hendrix, Lorde, Amanda Hardy and others. The two, Vegas residents for 10 years, use the desert in all of their artwork.
Guests who walk through the interactive exhibition can take a complimentary audio tour that describes the history and technique behind each piece. Or guests can use the mobile app Layar to scan each photograph to hear about its story as they walk through the hotel lobby.
See it through Sept. 30.
