Reporting from Las Vegas — The hardest ticket in Las Vegas may be attainable with a new contest. Many are calling the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. boxing match on May 2 the Fight of the Century. Tickets for nosebleed seats at the MGM Grand Garden Arena are going for $4,800 (and climbing), while floor seats are anywhere from $40,000 to $53,600. Each.
Along comes “Extra” host Mario Lopez to the rescue. The boxing fan joined forces with fan-funding platform FanBacked to offer the chance to win a weekend-long VIP package to experience the fight.
Fans can donate as little as $10 to be entered into a contest to win two VIP tickets to the fight and weigh in, two nights at the MGM Grand, two round-trip airline tickets from anywhere in the United States, car service to and from the airport and a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with Lopez in Las Vegas.
Yes, for $10.
“This is the fight of the century and tickets are either impossible to get or selling for crazy money,” Lopez says in a press statement. “FanBacked and I have got a chance for you to get off the couch watching pay-per-view and win a trip to Vegas to experience the fight up close and personal with me. For a small contribution, you have the chance to win while helping some kids who could really use a lift up.”
Proceeds from this go toward Orangewood Children’s Foundation in Santa Ana, Calif.
The more money fans donate, thewmore opportunities they have to win. Starting at $50, fans can choose “I’m with Money” or “I’m with PacMan” gear such as towels, T-shirts and hoodies to show support for their favorite fighter: Floyd “Money” Mayweather or Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao.
The contest ends on Friday, April 24. Winners are chosen through a process of random selection and notified 24 hours later.
