India: Say ‘namaste’ at the International Yoga Festival
Trade bad karma for good next month at the International Yoga Festival in the Garwhal Himalayas, India.
The March 1-7 event, organized by Parmarth Niketan ashram, includes 70 hours of yoga classes, evening discussions with spiritual leaders and other activities.
“Yoga continues to grow in popularity as a source of building inner and outer strength and for rejuvenating the spirit and soul,†said Ian Cambata, director of Greaves Tours, which has scheduled a 12-day tour “to introduce travelers to the enriching experience at the festival.â€
During the weeklong event, participants will have the opportunity to engage in multiple styles of yoga, including kundalini, power vinyasa, Iyengar and Kriya yoga.
The festival, geared to beginning through advanced students, will explore the eight limbs of yoga and how they apply to daily life. Parmarth Niketan, the site of the event, is on the banks of the Ganges River in the Himalayas.
Besides taking part in the festival, participants in the Greaves Tour, Feb. 25-March 9, will go sightseeing in Old and New Delhi and visit the Taj Mahal at sunset. The tour, Feb. 25- March 9, is $2,880 per person, double occupancy. Prices exclude international round-trip airfare.
