Las Vegas: 2-night spring break packages for under $100
I recently wrote about 21 things to do in Las Vegas for less than $21. Now here’s a way to keep your room rates on the cheap side too: MGM hotels’ spring break special means staying in Vegas for two nights plus discounts on shopping and spa services for as little as $100 at Excalibur. The chain’s pricier digs such as the Signature are on sale too, and all packages come with nice extras.
The deal: The Vegas Spring Break Escape 2012 packages vary by hotel; check out the different amenities for the MGM Grand, the Signature, Mandalay Bay, THEhotel, Monte Carlo, New York New York, Luxor and Excalibur.
The deals require a two-night stay, and midweek prices are cheaper than weekends. Here are some rates I found available online for April 8 and 9:
--Super cheap: Two nights at the Excalibur for $68 total, including tax, on April 8 and 9 (add a $15 daily resort fee). Extras include $25 buckets of beer, $1 Jell-O shots and 10% discount off spa services and retail shops at the hotel.
--Cheap: Two nights at Luxor for $98 total, including tax (add an $18 daily resort fee). Extras include $25 buckets of beer, 25% off retail stores at the hotel and free entry to LAX nightclub.
--Moderate: Two nights in a suite at the Signature cost $230 total, including tax (add $25 daily resort fee). Extras include two-for-one tube rentals at the Grand Pool, two-for-one admission to Tabu Ultra Lounge and discount packages for Wet Republic and “CSI: The Experience.â€
When: The offers are good for stays through April 30.
Tested: The hotels I checked above offer about the same nightly rates without the package, so it’s the extra discounts that make this deal work. For example, the Signature shows a two-night stay for the lesser price of $218 total on the dates above (includes tax but not resort fee).
Cover charge to the Tabu Ultra Lounge usually costs $10 for women and $20 for men (package includes two-for-one deal) and tube rentals at the Grand Pool run about $16 per person (package includes two-for-one deal). So the discounts mean you come out ahead with the package. Read the fine print for each offer to see which one works for you.
