Hawaii: Maui hotel and rental car for $222 a night

The holidays haven’t even begun but it’s not too early to contemplate a post-holiday winter break. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel in Lahaina, Maui, is offering a January deal on rooms for $222 a night that comes with a rental car and daily breakfast.
The deal: The hotel’s Jump Into January includes a partial ocean-view room, a compact rental car and daily breakfast. The 432-room hotel on the beach also has free cultural activities and events such as a hula show at sunset, ukulele lessons, hula classes and more.
When: The deal is good for stays Jan. 4 to Jan. 31, but reservations must be made by Nov. 30.
Tested: I found the deal available Nov. 9-14 for $222 a night plus tax, about $16 more than the usual starting price for the same room on the same nights. Bottom line: The difference is worth the savings you get on the cost of breakfast and a rental car.
