Turkey: $599 round-trip airfare to Istanbul from Los Angeles

Turkish Airlines is offering round-trip airfare from Los Angeles to Istanbul starting at $599, including taxes, on selected fall and winter dates. Think quickly if you like the eye-popping price because the offer is good only until Friday night.
The deal: Turkish Airlines in March began nonstop LAX-Istanbul service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It plans to add a fifth day, Wednesdays, starting Aug. 31 and daily service starting next March, the airline said in a statement. The promotional $599 round-trip fare includes tax and fees, but it is nonrefundable and unchangeable.
When: The offer is good for travel from Oct. 1 to Dec. 18 and Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, but you must book your flights by 11:59 p.m. PDT Friday.
Tested: To find this deal, I went to the airline’s website and started testing several dates -- no special Web page required. I found availability for flights from L.A. to Istanbul on Nov. 9 and returning Nov. 19, and on Oct. 12 and returning Oct. 20 for $599. The lowest rate isn’t available on all dates in the window period, so flexibility is the key to taking advantage of this deal.
