THE BEST WAY TO TALLBERG, SWEDEN

From LAX, connecting service (change of planes) to Stockholm is offered on Lufthansa, British, Air France, Swiss, Continental and KLM. Restricted round-trip fares begin at $840.

WHERE TO STAY

Ask for an upgraded room in the main building, if possible. The hotel restaurant serves an extensive breakfast buffet, including a variety of house-baked breads, lunch buffets, smorgasbords and dinner.

WHAT TO DO

Carl Larsson-Garden, 15 Sundborn; 023-600-53, https://www.carllarsson.se/enstart.aspx The creative, groundbreaking home of artist Carl Larsson and his family still influences Swedish design.

Munte’s Hildasholm, 5 Klockaregatan, Leksand; 247-100-62, https://www.hildasholm.org. The more traditional home of a well-to-do family, built in 1911.

Jobs Handtryck Studio, 4 Jobsbacken, Vastanvik; 247-122-22, https://www.jobshandtryck.se/eng-index.html. Tours of the print studio Monday through Friday in the summer; other times by appointment. Outlet shop open daily in the summer. Bold, high-quality, hand-printed fabrics and decorative items.

Dalhalla Amphitheater, just north of Rattvi off National Highway 70; 248-797-950, https://www.dalhalla.se. If you can’t catch a musical performance at this huge former limestone quarry, at least take a tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in summer months.
