You can save $150 a night at this Maui resort if you don’t mind disruptions
A resort along Maui’s Kaanapali Beach is offering savings starting at more than $150 a night for those who don’t mind some noise and windows that overlook mounds of dirt.
Honua Kai Resort & Spa is cutting the cost of its one-bedroom, partial ocean view suites by 40% for the rest of 2015.
Yes, there are still partial ocean views, but between Honua Kai and the water, crews are building a new Westin resort. The eyesore and the daytime noise are the reasons for the “Hard Hat Rate.â€
But the savings are substantial: The impacted suites now start at $230 a night, instead of the usual $384.
For guests traveling with kids, there are also discounted packages that include construction toys.
Honua Kai features 628 suites. Besides activities along the beach, the resort boasts an aquatic playground with four swimming pools and a water slide, as well as five hot tubs.
Construction began earlier this year on the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, a 390-unit resort adjacent to the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and the Honua Kai. The new property is to open in 2017.
